The purpose of an English 101 class is to get you started writing well in college. There’s no doubt that you atart off concerned about things that all writers, no matter how good they are, worry about (like how to get going, how to know what's expected, and how to have the enthusiasm that comes from the confidence you can do a good job). English 101 will help you, like it did for me, accomplish all these things: I practiced reliable steps in the process of writing effective writing style; I also examined different examples of how others accomplished the same things which helped me evolve and learn from their mistakes; Also, I got insight into how my classmates are tackling each assignment; And I pinpointed ways to make my writing acceptable and correct. I learned some strategies that helped me successfully invent ideas, and develop them into organized, effective essays. You learn how to use a simple word processing program like Microsoft Word, and that lets you explore the ways in how much a computer can makes the writing process that much easier. Every time we read and write, we define ourselves and our worlds. Reading and writing give us the power to control those definitions, analyzing them, altering them and responding to them. In short, reading and writing empower us (that's what makes your English 101 class so important!)
Hey, my name is Colin (with one 'L') and I’m 20 years old. I'm a Firefighter/EMT at WFD located in Winterhaven, CA and a Lifeguard for The City of Yuma. I am a full-time student at Arizona Western College working towards my Fire Science degree. I am the oldest of three kids with a younger brother and an even younger sister. By brother is 19 and attending NAU and my sister is 15 and still in high school. My parents both work in the Education my father is a superintendent of a school district and my mother is a reading coach at a middle school. I enjoy boxing, jujitsu, swimming, hanging out with friends/girlfriend, and video games.
